On Wednesday, November 18, 2009, members of the Warrensburg Arts Commission participated in a “Community Conversation on the Arts,” as part of “Arts in Crisis:A Kennedy Center Initiative”.
It was held at the Lyric Theater in Kansas City with Michael Kaiser, President of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and presented in partnership with the Kansas City Symphony and sponsored by the Missouri Arts Council. Michael Stern, Music Director of the Kansas City Symphony, conducted a performance of Brahms “Academic Festival Overture, op. 80,” while moderating the conversation and taking written questions from the audience.
Members of the Warrensburg Arts Commission attending included: Rebecca Limback, Meredith Sauer, Jeff Imboden, Tom Kerber, and Gary Grigsby. Warrensburg Main Street Executive Director Jessica Rhodes attended the workshop and performance.
The Commission followed this with a lunch business meeting and a presentation by Charlotte (Carly) Matthews and Antonia Marie of the KC Crossroads Community Association a major arts and entertainment district in Kansas City. |
